Custom Stainless Steel Enclosures & Housings — Electrical & Instrument Grade
ZEMSS fabricates stainless steel electrical enclosures, control panel housings, junction boxes, and instrument cases for food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical, marine, and general industrial applications. Custom dimensions, cut-out patterns, gland entry provisions, and internal mounting arrangements are fabricated to your drawing. Grade 304 is the standard specification; grade 316L is selected for marine environments, chemical plants, food washdown areas, and any installation where chloride exposure would cause surface corrosion in standard 304.
All enclosures are fabricated from sheet plate with continuous TIG-welded seams, ground flush on exposed surfaces, and fitted with silicone or EPDM gaskets for the specified IP rating. Internal components (din rail, back plate, mounting bosses) can be included as a pre-assembled package if specified.

Key Properties
- NEMA 4X equivalent (316L grade) — NEMA 4X specifies protection against corrosion, windblown dust, rain, and hose-directed water. 316L stainless enclosures with silicone gasket and 316L hardware meet NEMA 4X requirements without additional coating. Unlike GRP or painted steel alternatives, the stainless enclosure does not degrade over time in UV or chemical exposure.
- IP65/66 washdown capability — Continuous TIG-welded seams with flush-ground external joints, combined with compression-moulded gasket, achieve IP65 (dust-tight, water jet) or IP66 (powerful water jet) ratings. Critical for food and pharmaceutical plants where equipment is hose-washed daily.
- Hygienic design for food environments — Sloped roof prevents water ponding. External corners radiused. Internal corners coved (radius ≥ 6mm) to allow cleaning and prevent bacterial accumulation. Meets EN 1672-2 zone 2 design principles for food plant electrical housing.
- Fully custom to drawing — Cut-out positions, gland sizes, hinge side, handle type, internal layout, and external mounting feet all specified per drawing. No standard-size compromise. Reduces installation adaptation time on site.
- 316L for aggressive environments — Chemical plant, offshore, and food processing environments expose enclosures to chloride aerosol, cleaning chemicals, and condensation. 316L maintains structural integrity and IP rating seal performance over 20+ year service life where 304 would develop surface corrosion within 5–10 years in severe environments.
